Views are being sought on draft guidelines on obtaining consent from patients for blood transfusion.

SaBTO, the committee advising ministers in the four UK Departments of Health on the safety of blood, tissues and organs, originally produced guidelines on obtaining consent from patients for blood and blood components in 2011.

Since their publication, there have been several notable changes in this area so SaBTO set up a small working party to review and revise the guidelines.

The draft revised guidelines can be viewed as a download on this article.

Before the guidelines are submitted, views are being sought from both patient and professional individuals and organisations.

PIF has been asked to share the consultation documents with our members.

Responses can be sent using the below template to mbsabto@dhsc.gov.uk until 10 July 2020.
