PIF member The King's Fund is hosting a virtual conference – Quality in a system under stress.

The event, supported by PIF, is a timely reminder of the importance of quality during a time of financial pressures, resource constraint and unmet demand for services.

The virtual conference takes place on 4 and 5 July.

At the beginning of 2023, Sir Robert Francis and Rachel Power, chief executive of PIF member the Patients Association, set out concerns about the ‘disaster unfolding in the NHS’ in a letter to the Secretary of State for Heath and Social Care.

10 years on from Sir Robert Francis’ inquiry into the failings in care at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and in the context of the pandemic, workforce shortages and significant financial restraints, this event will explore what quality looks like to service users.

It will also examine how staff and organisations can deliver quality care during periods of extreme pressure and demand.

Key discussion points will include:

  • The importance of quality during a time of financial and resource constraint, and unmet demand for services
  • What quality looks an feels like for patients and staff
  • How clinicians and leaders can drive the culture needed to improve quality of care
  • How the definition of quality is changing post pandemic.

Early bird tickets are available until 19 April.
