PRSB launches #StartwithStandards campaign

PIF partner's campaign aims to highlight the importance of standards in health and social care.

A campaign has been launched to raise awareness of the vital role record standards play in health and care improvement. #StartwithStandards was launched by PIF partner the Professional Record Standards Body (PRSB) following the announcement that NHS England was being abolished.

The campaign aims to educate health and care professionals, digital system suppliers and sector leaders about the role of standards in improving the quality of care. It encourages them to start with standards as the key step in transforming the system.

Professor Reecha Sofat, chairman of PRSB, said: "Starting with standards is not just one piece of the transformation puzzle; it’s the first and most essential step toward building a health and care system that is fit for the future."

PRSB standards are built around a defined set of core components and are used to ensure people's health and care records 'travel' with them as they move across different health and care settings. The records contain essential information about a person’s medical and social care history, including:

  • Allergies
  • Test results
  • Medications
  • Treatments
  • Care plans
  • Appointments
  • Admissions and discharges
  • Social care assessments and support plans

PRSB is calling on people to support the #StartwithStandards mission by raising awareness of the campaign and educating others on the importance of standards.
