Macmillan launches app library
“There are a growing number of different health and wellbeing apps on the market,” says Dr Anthony Cunliffe, National Clinical Adviser at Macmillan Cancer Support.
“With so many available it can be overwhelming and difficult to know which ones you can trust. This can be even more so when you are living with cancer.”
That’s why the PIF partner has launched a dedicated app library with independently assessed digital health tools to support people throughout their cancer experience.
Offering people the right tools when they need it
The Macmillan App Library is designed around the needs of people living with cancer. It covers a range of cancer types and care pathway stages, from diagnosis through treatment and into ongoing support.
Many apps are specific to cancer whilst others relate to common needs such as help with managing feelings, sleep, pain and the practicalities of living with a long-term health condition.
People can self-manage, stay informed, and access trusted resources beyond clinical settings.
Each app has been independently assessed
Every app in the library has been independently evaluated for clinical safety, usability, privacy and security by the Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Apps.
This means anyone with cancer in the UK can find and use apps with confidence.
“This library gives people living with cancer exactly that: a trusted starting point, backed by independent assessment, so they can focus on what matters," adds Dr Cunliffe.
