Working with the PIF membership

A cross-sector membership sharing expertise and experience.

PIF is the independent voice of cross-sector information producers and providers of all types and sizes. By facilitating the sharing of expertise and experience among our members we help to further raise standards in health information.

We represent more than 3,600 individuals from more than 300 cross-sector organisations. Our membership includes NHS organisations, health charities, international companies, medical writers, healthcare professionals and more. PIF is a truly collaborative organisation. We do not just set guidance for our members, we draw on their expertise and encourage them to work together to improve the quality of health information for all.

How does PIF share good practice?

At PIF, our members guide everything we do. They support the development of our consensus guidance and the PIF TICK criteria for health information. Members also sit on our Advisory Group and the PIF TICK Steering Group. Tapping into this wealth of expertise helps to ensure we can respond quickly and effectively to the challenges of modern health information production.

The PIF membership is mutually supportive and provides an active community of good practice. Members come together at PIF-hosted events to share ideas, identify emerging challenges and work together on potential solutions. PIF can also host resource hubs allowing members to share materials on specific health topics. The membership also shares its expertise directly through our Ask the Membership service.

Our story

Information professionals have been at the heart of PIF since we were formed under the auspices of The King’s Fund in 1997. Now we set the standards for health information in the UK and beyond and our members remain at the heart of everything we do.
