Kidney Care UK launches Bloody Amazing Kidneys campaign

PIF member's online kidney health checker aims to empower people to take control of their kidney health.

An eye-catching campaign has been launched to help empower people to take control of their kidney health. Kidney Care UK has unveiled its new Bloody Amazing Kidneys campaign to help identify those most at risk of developing chronic kidney disease (CKD), and encourage them to be tested.

The charity says too many people are being diagnosed when their kidneys are already damaged. It wants to ensure more people are identified sooner and can take steps to prolong their kidney health. The aim of the campaign is to get people to use the new online Kidney Health Checker. The checker allows users to find out if they might be at lower or increased risk of developing kidney disease.

While developing the campaign, Kidney Care UK heard people did not know what kidney disease symptoms to look out for. The charity has worked with YouGov to commission some research into this. Information is also being provided to help GPs talk to patients about CKD. People are also being encouraged to share the campaign on social media and to write to their MP to highlight the awareness plight.
