Radiotherapy UK launches online hub for patients and families

PIF member launches resources to support patients and their families through radiotherapy treatment.

A new online hub has been created for patients and their loved ones who are looking for information about radiotherapy treatment. Radiotherapy UK launched its Patients and Families online hub last week.

Each year, up to 160,000 people in the UK have radiotherapy treatment for cancer and need access to trusted, down-to-earth resources. The hub aims to support adults through and beyond the difficulties of radiotherapy treatment. It includes patient stories, videos, podcasts, common questions and a guide to radiotherapy techniques. Users can also follow a patient journey of resources, which are split into the following sections:

  • What is radiotherapy?
  • Before treatment.
  • During treatment.
  • After treatment and what next.
  • Understanding side effects.
  • Understanding later effects.

Many of the resources feature the PIF TICK, and the charity is committed to learning and improving, guided by the structure of the PIF TICK criteria
