PIF partner the Professional Record Standards Body (PRSB) has shared insights gathered from its members and partners about the future of health and care data. The PRSB said its members and partners continue to face everyday obstacles in ensuring the recording of high-quality data and meaningful use of it.
Many are working with multiple systems that often fail to communicate with each other effectively, creating inconsistencies in key definitions and data formats. This makes it difficult to build a coherent picture of care across organisations. The structure of data was also highlighted as a challenge as well as the pressures of limited time and workforce resources.
Members noted significant barriers to becoming “AI ready" and questioned whether the current political and policy environment is prepared for the realities of AI in healthcare. There was, however, strong consensus that standardised records can enhance productivity and efficiency with members highlighting benefits, such as:
The PRSB concluded its members and partners are aligned in their vision of a more connected, data-driven and patient-centred future. But to realise this future, we must listen closely to those on the ground. This includes supporting them not just with tools and standards, but with the time, clarity and stability they need to deliver lasting change.
