Scars of Gold covers more than 150 health topics and 200 pieces of art. The completed campaign will be presented in London during Women's Health Week. Artworks will be accompanied by health talks and music.

Scars of Gold

The Scars of Gold campaign began in March 2024 and has involved:

  • 100 Voices – 100 women were interviewed by charity founder Dr Liz Murray as part of a documentary series shared online and on the Mortal And Strong podcast. The women interviewed shared their journey of facing life changing or life limiting health conditions, focusing on messages of hope and strength and where they find joy in each day. More than 150 health topics were covered.
  • 100 Scars of Gold – Each of the 100 Voices share their Scars of Gold in an innovative photography series inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi. The images celebrate the beauty and strength borne from the scars each of them have acquired through their health journey. The concept was created by Dr Murray and executed by campaign co-director and photographer Sammy Weston.
  • 100 Artworks – Artists from across the country responded to an open call to produce 100 artworks. each inspired by one of the 100 Voices. Acclaimed and emerging artists volunteered to capture the underlying messages of hope and strength shared by the women.
