Kidney Care UK campaign gets billboard boost
A campaign which celebrates the amazing job our kidneys do while raising awareness of the impact of kidney disease will be seen on billboards across the UK this October. PIF member Kidney Care UK has been selected as the JCDecaux Community Channel Partner for October 2025. This means its #BloodyAmazingKidneys campaign will be seen on billboards and at bus stops and community hubs. The sites will change each week and people are encouraged to take a photo and share it with Kidney Care UK, which is also posting about the adverts on social media.
Kidney Care UK says until they are diagnosed, many kidney patients do not know anything about their kidneys. People with kidney disease have also told the charity that the lack of awareness of kidney disease, kidney failure and their treatments leaves them feeling isolated and ignored. Since the #BloodyAmazingKidneys campaign was launched in October 2024 almost 250,000 people have completed an online Kidney Health Checker to find out if they could be at increased risk of developing chronic kidney disease (CKD).
The #BloodyAmazingKidneys campaign adverts include some key facts, including:
- 1 in 4 people are not aware of the symptoms of kidney disease.
- Kidneys filter up to 180 litres of blood every day.
- Kidneys filter your blood 40 times per day.
- Dd you know you can lose 90% of your kidney function without realising?
- If we don't take action, chronic kidney disease will be the fifth biggest killer worldwide by 2040.
Help to get people talking
The Kidney Care UK website includes a wealth of information, advice and patient stories about kidney disease and its symptoms, how it is diagnosed and how to stay healthy. The #BloodyAmazingKidneys section includes the latest news on the campaign as well as information on how to help get people talking. To support the campaign, the charity asks people to:
- FOLLOW their social media accounts and stay up-to-date on the campaign.
- SHARE #BloodyAmazingKidneys information with your family, friends and colleagues.
- EDUCATE everyone you know about kidneys and how to look after them.
- INSPIRE others with your experience of living with kidney disease.
- DONATE to help reach those at risk of developing chronic kidney disease.
