Parkinson's UK publishes information on assisted dying bill

PIF member publishes position on assisted dying legislation and answers key questions.

PIF member Parkinson's UK has shared its position on new legislation that, if passed by parliament, would legalise assisted dying in England and Wales. The Scottish parliament is also considering a new law and legislation is progressing in the Isle of Man.

The charity said public discussion around the legislation has prompted debate within the Parkinson's community with strong opinions on both sides of the argument. Parkinson's UK's position on assisted dying is neutral. This is because of the "variety of views amongst our members and the wider community of people affected by Parkinson's".

The statement released by Parkinson's UK also answers common questions relating to the bill, including who it would affect and key dates. The next vote on the bill is scheduled for 29 November.
