AstraZeneca launches new flu vaccine leaflets with the PIF TICK

As well as 13 language options, there is a popular easy-read version available.

A new leaflet and video resource about children's flu vaccines have been produced for families by PIF member AstraZeneca. The leaflet - which features the PIF TICK - includes easy-to-read information about who is eligible for the free nasal spray vaccine, why children need the vaccine and details on how it is given. There is also a list of facts on the differences between the flu and a cold.

Information available in 13 languages

The aim of the campaign is to increase uptake of the flu vaccine in children aged 2-16.

The leaflet has been created for families whose children are having the flu vaccine in schools and other health settings and has been translated into 13 different languages. These include Bengali, Romanian, Urdu and Punjabi.

There is also an easy-read version available to download, and a video showing more about the process of how the nasal spray flu vaccine is administered.

The resources were produced in line with the PIF TICK criteria, using health information which is evidence-based, up-to-date and easy to use and understand.

The Share Good Times Not Flu website uses clear language to explain the leaflets' purpose: "They provide some easy to read information and are a good check on some facts. They talk about why flu matters and how to understand the difference from the common cold. They talk about who the vaccine is suitable for and explain that the nasal spray vaccine is not an injection. They also demonstrate how it is given."

The leaflet, which includes stickers, also thanks parents who helped to co-produce and give feedback on the leaflet.
