Breast Cancer Now and Her Spirit launch fitness programme

PIF member teams up with fitness app to launch free 12-week programme to empower women to become more active.

Breast Cancer Now has teamed up with Her Spirit to pilot a free programme to empower women to become more active for long-term health benefits. The Fitness for Health programme is designed specifically for women aged 45+ who want to start or re-start their health and fitness journey. The 12-week programme uses the Her Spirit app to help women build confidence, and strength, improve their fitness and boost well-being. There are also weekly in-person walking sessions, expert coaching and community support. The programme is being piloted in Bolton and Derby and is open to women with or without a primary breast cancer diagnosis.

To help test and refine the programme, Breast Cancer Now is looking to recruit women who meet the following criteria:

  • Live in the Bolton or Derby area.
  • Engaged in 30 minutes or less of physical activity and doing little to no strength training each week.
  • Willingness to track activity via a watch or free app for the duration of the programme.
  • Ideally able to commit to one weekly in-person walking session and one online strength session per week.
  • Willingness to share experiences of the programme in your dedicated local community group.
  • Take part in programme evaluation surveys.

Registration for the Fitness for Health programme closes on 16 February and the programme will start week commencing 24 February 2025.
