About me

I have more than a decade of experience writing and editing compelling copy. Before going freelance, I worked in newspapers writing and editing copy for both print and online to tight deadlines. In recent years I have been focusing on health information. In my role as PIF's freelance communications manager I have: delivered CPD-accredited training, conducted patient interviews, boosted social media activity and reviewed health information materials to ensure they are accessible to all. Outside of PIF, my work includes managing social media accounts, writing for pharmaceutical journals and creating weekly blogs. I have experience working with charities, non-profits and commercial organisations.


Skills and experience

My key skills include writing, editing, interviewing, proofreading and training. I have experience reviewing information materials for accessibility and promoting health literacy. I am confident delivering training to large groups both online and in person. Particular areas of expertise include: writing in plain language, health literacy and structuring information.


Qualifications and awards

I have a first-class degree in Journalism from the University of Sheffield, winning the university award for best print portfolio in my graduating year. I am also NCTJ and NCE (now NQJ) gold-standard qualified. In 2010 I won the national award for best portfolio of work. I have 100wpm shorthand. Training materials I helped to develop and deliver were CPD-accredited in 2021. I have in depth knowledge of the PIF TICK criteria.
